How it began...

In the summer of 2004 I finished the first part of my education in the field of tourism. My original plan was to work with a tour operator in the South of Chile. Yet things came differently. In March 2004 I was granted a scholar ship for further 1,5 years of education to finally graduate as a "Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management". This is going to happen in two days when I hopefully will pass my final oral examen. During the last two years my ambitions grew to travel around the world, live and work in different cultures, get to meet people, and make use of the long-studied foreign languages English and Spanish. It seemed that everybody in my surrounding had already experienced such a journey and my interest grew and grew. After having listened to a bunch of friends, customers of the travel agency L`Tur I worked for, and other people I decided to book the "Round-the-world-ticket" in October 2005. Each month new routes, ideas, and plans were added and my final route turned out to be a lot different than the original one. My journey is now to start on May 8 with the first flight to Bangkok. In Bangkok I meet my friend Uli and we will continue through Thailand, Laos, some parts of Cambodia, Malaysia, and Singapur. After ten and a half weeks Uli flies back to Germany and I travel on to Bali (12 days), Australia (4 months), Newzealand (3 months), Mexiko (3 weeks), and to my final destination, the USA (4 weeks). More details are to follow - so keep on looking at my blog and enjoy following me throughout the next 365 days....

Servus Jan!
